Welcome to our 3rd Grade Classroom Wiki!  This wiki will be a window into our little piece of the world.  Have you ever been lucky enough to grow a garden?  A classroom is just like a garden, a learning garden.  A  green garden begins with hard work to get it started: turning over the topsoil, shaking off the grass and weeds, tilling up the soil, mixing it with fertilizer.   In our learning garden we begin getting used to the routine and the rules, the new books, and the new expectations.  Next in the green garden you place the seeds firmly into the soil.  You add water, and hope for rain showers and the heat of the sun.  Seeds of information and knowledge are planted in our learning garden.  The learning is sprinkled with various tools and strategies to use in the pursuit of that knowledge. Warmth and energy are supplied by the teacher and the school's love and encouragement.  Just like a green garden that changes daily, the children in this learning garden will be growing and changing.  Finally in the green garden you can see the sprouts start to push out of the earth and begin to grow.  There is much excitement in the learning garden as the children swiftly begin to emerge as learners.  They begin to see the world and all the endless capabilities they have with the power of learning and knowing.  The seeds in the green garden begin to become many different types of plants.  The children in the learning garden also develop into their own unique younglings;  blooming, blossoming with confidence of their individual capabilities.  Isn't it exciting!!!.  You will also be lucky enough to watch our learning garden grow; by visiting our wiki and seeing the different ways we are learning this year.  COME!  Come in and visit our little corner of the world, our little garden of the great Earth.

WELCOME TO MRS. G.'S 3RD GRADE CLASSROOM!  WELCOME TO OUR LEARNING GARDEN!!

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

We have a poster in our room of a person who has made, or is making a difference in our world.  Our first task is to find out who she/he is and the impact they have made on our Planet Earth.  By using “Visual Discovery” we look for clues in the picture as to what key words or “tags” would help us in our internet search.  Our next task is to learn from that person’s life example and discover how we can also make a difference in our world.   Check out the photo below and see what we have learned about this steward of the EARTH.
